2001 4-CYLINDER DESTRUCTION DERBY RULES
ANY CAR NOT MEETING
BASIC REQUIREMENTS MAY BE DECLARED INELIGIBLE TO COMPETE
BY TRACK OFFICIALS. THIS IS NOT A RACING DIVISION. THE LAST CAR THAT REMAINS RUNNING AND IS STILL
ABLE TO MOVE IN THE EVENT, WILL BE DEEMED THE WINNER.
DISCLAIMER:
The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to
provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable
requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by
participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these
rules.
NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATION OF,
OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS OR FROM SUCH
ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS
The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviations
from any of the specifications herein
or impose any further restrictions that, in his opinion, do not
alter the minimum acceptable requirements.
Any interpretation of, or deviation from, these rules is left to
the discretion of the Track Officials. Their decisions will be final.
DRIVERS:
Drivers must be 16 years or older, and
registered as a Portland Speedway Driver. Drivers and crew members 16 thru 18 must present
a notarized release, for the current calendar year, to the track before they are allowed
into the Pit Area. Portland Speedway numbers will be assigned. (Please contact the track
office for your registered racing number.) Cars with duplicate numbers will not be scored

TECHNICAL
DIRECTOR AT PORTLAND SPEEDWAY.
B. SPECIFICATIONS:
1.
GLASS:
All glass, except windshield, must be removed.
2.
INTERIOR:
All upholstery, except drivers seat, must be removed.
3.
EXTERIOR:
All lights, trim, door handles, etc. must be removed.
4.
GAS TANKS: Gas tanks must be mounted in front of rear axle. If moved from stock location, must be 5 gallon or
less, mounted in package tray area and completely sealed from driver.
5.
BATTERY: A firewall or leak-proof,
marine-type container must separate battery from fuel cell area. Battery may not be
mounted in driver's compartment. Battery must securely bolted to a mounting structure.
6.
MUFFLERS:
All race cars shall be equipped with exhaust systems in good working order,
with no leaks or openings between engine and muffler. No car may exceed 90 Dba at 50 feet
or current Portland Speedway regulations. Readings shall be made while car is moving on
track. THIS RULE IS STRICTLY ENFORCED ... VIOLATORS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE!
7.
BODY:
All body panel, bumpers, bumper brackets, suspension & steering
components, must be stock for make and model. NO
REINFORCING. Stock bumper brackets may be
welded, but NO added material. NO PLATING
of frames, bumpers, bodies, etc. Doors and
trunks may be welded; again, NO PLATING (subject to tech.).
No all-thread; no bolting of body panels, including hood.
8.
ROLL CAGES: Complete roll cages recommended. Roll-over protection required. No bars through
firewalls. Driver door
protection required. Outside channel iron OK,
but no more than 12 longer than door skin.
9.
RADIATOR:
Radiator must be in stock location.
C. RUNNING RULES:
LAST CAR
RUNNING WINS - ONE MINUTE CONTACT RULE ENFORCED - IN CASE OF TIE, LAST HIT
WINS.
REASONS FOR
DISQUALIFICATION MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:
- Driver door or head-on hit (as determined by
Track Officials). - 60-second contact rule violation.
- Tire off
rim, or damage to track.
- Excessive noise.
- Car out of bounds of corral.
- Gas leak.
ALL CARS MUST BE
REMOVED FROM PROPERTY NIGHT OF SHOW.
YOU MUST READ, UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THE RELEASE AND WAIVER
OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT PROVIDED BY THE PIT GATE REGISTRAR, AND SO
INDICATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND ACCEPTANCE BY SIGNING THE PROVIDED AGREEMENT PRIOR TO
ENTERING THE PREMISES FOR COMPETITION. THE
LANGUAGE OF SAID AGREEMENT IS PROVIDED BELOW FOR YOUR REVIEW:
IN
CONSIDERATION of being permitted to enter for any purpose any RESTRICTED AREA (herein
defined as including but not limited to the racing surface, pit areas, infield, burn out
area, approach area, shut down area, and all walkways, concessions and other areas
appurtenant to any area where any activity related to the event shall take place), or
being permitted to compete, officiate, observe, work for, or for any purpose participate
in any way in the event, EACH OF THE UNDERSIGNED, for himself, his personal
representatives, heirs, and next of kin, acknowledges, agrees and represents that he has,
or will immediately upon entering any of such restricted areas, and will continuously
thereafter, inspect such restricted areas and all portions thereof which he enters and
with which he comes in contact, and he does further warrant that his entry upon such
restricted area or areas and his participation, if any, in the event constitutes an
acknowledgment that he has inspected such restricted area and that he finds and accepts
the same as being safe and reasonably suited for the purposes of his use, and he further
agrees and warrants that if, at any time, he is in or about restricted areas and he feels
anything to be unsafe, he will immediately advise the officials of such and will leave the
restricted areas:
1. HEREBY RELEASES, WAIVES, DISCHARGES AND COVENANTS
NOT TO SUE the promoter, participants, racing association, sanctioning organization or any
subdivision thereof, track operator, track owner, officials, car owners, drivers, pit
crews, any persons in any restricted area, promoters, sponsors, advertisers, owners and
lessees of premises used to conduct the event and each of them, their officers and
employed, all for the purposes herein referred to as releasees, from all
liability to the undersigned, his personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of
kin for any and all loss or damage, and any claim or demands therefor on account of injury
to the person or property or resulting in death of the undersigned, whether caused by the
negligence of the releasees or otherwise while the undersigned is in or upon the
restricted area, and/or competing, officiating in, observing, working for, or for any
purpose participating in the event;
2.
HEREBY
AGREES TO INDEMNIFY AND SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS the releasees and each of them from any
loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur due to the presence of the undersigned in
or upon the restricted area or in any way competing, officiating, observing, or working
for, or for any purpose participating in the event and whether caused by the negligence of
the releasees or otherwise.
3.
HEREBY
ASSUMES FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND RISK OF BODILY INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE due to
the negligence of releasees or otherwise while in or upon the restricted area and/or while
competing, officiating, observing, or working for or for any purpose participating in the
event.
EACH OF THE
UNDERSIGNED expressly acknowledges and agrees that the activities of the event are very
dangerous and involve the risk of serious injury and/or death and/or property damage. EACH OF THE UNDERSIGNED further expressly agrees
that the forgoing release, waiver, and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broad and
inclusive as is permitted by the law of the Province or State in which the event is
conducted and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance
shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.
THE UNDERSIGNED
HAS READ AND VOLUNTARILY SIGNS THE RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY
AGREEMENT, and further agrees that no oral representations, statements or inducements
apart from the foregoing written agreement have been made.

right to make final decisions in the interpretation of race rules and procedures. I understand that Portland Speedway reserves the
right to alter the racing program for curfew purposes or other unforeseen emergencies. I have read the Technical Specifications, the Race
Rules and Procedures, and the Release and
Waiver of Liability and Indemnity Agreement.
I will abide by the letter and spirit of these declarations, as I hereby
enter the indicated Enduro(s) at Portland Speedway.
ADVERTISING &
PROMOTION RELEASE: Portland Speedway, its duly authorized agents and assigns, may use
the driver(s)' name(s), likeness(es) and photographs advertising, recording or reporting
any Portland Speedway EVENT(S) before, during and after such EVENT(S), including, but not
limited to, sales and other commercial projects, television and radio broadcasts, film
production, videotape reproductions and the like, and do hereby relinquish all rights
thereto for these purposes.
