McTAGGERT WOOS JUDGES, CLAIMS 'MISS PORTLAND SPEEDWAY' TITLE FOR 2000

Besting a talented line-up of spokesmodel hopefuls, Portland, Ore. native Kristen McTaggert displayed a professional appearance and grace under pressure, impressing a panel of judges, and bringing her top honors in the Friday, August 6 "13th Annual Safeway Miss Portland Speedway Contest presented by Budweiser".

The annual pageant -- staged at Portland Speedway to select the historic track's trophy presenter and public ambassador for the year 2000 -- featured five finalists competing for the title of "Miss Portland Speedway", and cash and prizes totaling over $2500.

McTaggert, a professional model, musician, and actress, will assume her duties immediately, assisting with promotions through the remainder of the 1999 racing season.

Twenty-one-year-old Cameron Crocker, Forest Grove, Ore., garnered "first runner-up" honors, and will assume a host of duties next year, including event and promotional appearances.

The remaining finalists -- a group that will make up the Portland Speedway "Trophy Court" next season -- included Mandy Cook, 19, of Vancouver, Wash., 19-year-old Kimberlee Oyler, of Gresham, Ore., and Kamie Rangleloff, 19, of Portland.

Safeway, Budweiser, John Casablanca's Modeling, Culpepper & Co., Classic Chauffeur, Weston Pontiac, Fast Lane Photo, Olympic Concessions, and North Pacific Sign & Design all sponsored the popular event, and provided prizes and trappings for the gala affair.
